Snobby isn't better! (Review of Marco Two Union Square)

I have been to this salon on several occasions. I have had some good services, foil, haircuts.

However I must comment on the attitude in the place. Rude on the phone, rude while I was waiting, and rude when I left.

Last time I checked my money spent just as well as anyone else's. When you spend $200 or up for services they should treat everyone like a celebrity.

Not sure why a good salon like this thinks it needs to be snobby?
2 stars for attitude.

I'll never go anywhere else for a Brazilian. (Review of Salon Dewi Home of the Waxing Diva)

Travis Powell is amazing. I've been going to him for a little over a year now, every 5 weeks, for Brazilian waxes. He's funny, sweet, personable, and most importantly - incredibly good at what he does. I come in furry and leave clean as a whistle. Prices are totally reasonable, too.

Also, Cady at the front desk is a sweetheart, and the whole place lacks the snobby, uptight atmosphere of other salons and spas. Every time I've come in, people have been talking and laughing, and I've never been treated with anything less than friendly respect. I'm a devoted fan of Dewi, and will never go anywhere else for my "landscaping" needs!

Wonderful staff (Review of CITY HAIR)

Ive had nothing but fantastic cuts, and color at City Hair. The staff has gone out of their way to make the experience mellow, and cheerful. I think the prices here are outlandishly cheap for the service you get. I use the Alterna Caviar that they've recommended to me and cannot believe the condition of my hair and scalp! They are always running deals on the Caviar every few months and if you ask they will call you when it's on sale.

You must go see Cher at Seven. Such a pleasure to work with- professional but really funny and warm...within ten minutes of my first visit she had the shape of my face, the texture of my hair, even my difficult cowlick figured out. The salon itself is sumptuous, free coffee/chocolate etc, but my men's haircut was only $85. Definitely a good price for how amazing the service was.

Joevir has been giving me amazing haircuts, perfect highlights and Positive Thinking inspiration since the 90's and is simply the best hairstylist you could ask for. An award-winning hair designer, he'll give you acupressure with your shampoo, a perfect-for-you, state of the art cut, a peptalk and of course a good dose of his cornball Filipino humor. He's also a totally stylin' metrosexual, which, at 50+, is hot!

Zdenka Sharp is the best thing that ever happened to me! (Review of Via Solferino)

For years I had been paying way too much at a Gene Juarez for a mediocre haircut. I was treated TERRIBLY by my stylist but was scared to go somewhere else. I had to leave Gene Juarez because after 4 years with one stylist I critiqued the work he'd done. From that point on he refused to cut my hair. All this to say, when I met Zdenka I was blown away that you could go to the salon, be treated with kindness and respect and even come out with wonderful hair! Zdenka is the most talented stylist I've ever known. She is so innovative and always trying new things on me. Her color skills are especially wonderful. I will never leave her! The salon is nice, its fun to drink wine and relax while enjoying Zdenka's wonderful personality and people watching on 1st avenue. Everyone should give Zdenka a try!

One word, Belinda! I used to go to Gene Juerez but someone told me about Belinda and I cannot recommend her enough. She is so fast but always spends lots of time getting to know you. My eyebrows always look amazing, classy and very well-groomed. Belinda is the master waxer!!!! She has a reward program for return customers and I will return again and again!

I really did feel like a king here. I was pampered (but like a guy) from the moment I walked in. It has just the right level things I look for to make me feel relaxed. It's not spa quiet, but it's not loud and distracting. The staff is helpful, polite, and nice, but without being over the top and not sincere. I am also excite because I here they will be adding even more services to their arsenal soon.

Sorely Disappointed (Review of Gene Juarez)

 Review of: Gene Juarez

My husband gave me a spa package gift certificate for Gene Juarez about three months ago, and I finally got the opportunity to get my hair done this morning. When I started to explain what I wanted, this woman proceeded to tell me what a bad choice of color I already had, and that it would take 3-4 trips back to them to get the color where I wanted it. She actually pointed at a portion of my previous colored hair and said "This has got to go..." I have never been talked to so rudely when paying such a ridiculous amount of money. It was going to take about $500.00 to get my hair where I wanted it? I did not feel like a queen. I felt like trailer trash getting a hand out of her expertise. She continued to belittle me when I told her what I did want. At this point, another woman had already done the precut, and I just had to walk out. I cried for about 2 hours and sent my husband into hysterics, because he was so worried about me. This particular young lady sounded as if she was so much better than me, and made me feel very bad about myself. I just hope this never happens to anyone else. No matter what anyone says, God made you special and he loves you very much. No matter what some stuck up Gene Juarez hair stylist makes you feel.

Good Quality, but losing it's Edge (Review of Marco Two Union Square)

 Author: A B.
Review of: Marco Two Union Square

Marco two is a salon positioned to be in the category of the best salons in the city. I have found that I get a good color here, but I must say that the atmosphere is not so great.
I am rarely asked if I want something to drink while I am waiting for my stylist. My stylist is professional and skilled which is the best part of the visit. It feels as though there is an atmosphere of ambivalence, I do not feel as though my business is trying to be earned. I often am put on hold when trying to make an appointment, often wait in my robe at the front for my clothes, and have never been asked if I want to book my next appointment when I am checking out.
The staff is extra friendly (kind of gossipy) with clients and a sense of professionalism is not maintained. I find this in stark contrast to Salon 7 where service efficiency and professionalism are # one.
This salon is losing it's edge. My hope is that it wakes up and moves beyond resting on it's laurels to recreate itself and find vitality in a city where it's competitors will leave it in the dust if it doesn't change.
