This is great.
I'm actually allergic to cats, however I overcome the itchy skin and puffy eyes in order to shop here a couple of times a month. There's a daunting selection of reasonably priced books.

The best Half-Price bookstore in the country ?! (Review of Half Price Books Records Magazines)

Review of: Half Price Books Records Magazines

A wonderful used/remainder bookstore and the largest Half Price Books store in the country (so i"m told by someone who has been to the Houston, New York, LA, etc.stores).

In any case, a HUGE improvement over the University District or Bellevue stores, especially the former, which is very cramped.

Very roomy, high ceilings, well-lit, wood floors and paneling, large windows, chairs. The most comfortable, relaxing bookstore in the city. Wide selections in many categories. Great prices, occasional store-wide sales. Hours are very good, until 11 pm nightly!

Usually have a recent shipment of Konemann, the German publisher of coffee-table art books at bargain prices.

This in undoubtedly would be the most pleasant, relaxed bookstore--new or used--to just walk around, browse, etc. were it not for the sometimes obnoxious piped-in music and the occasional very raucous conversations behind the counter (I wish I could carry on my own mini-party at work, too).

I don't sell my books (I donate them), so I can't comment on that aspect...

One or two of the staff members could be a little less apathetic. Otherwise all the staff is upbeat and polite.

This is the grand bookstore of all bookstores in the area. They have everything. Good bargains. Textbooks. I often buy picture framing supplies here, along with stamping and scrapbook supplies for my sister. They have an onsite coffee joint, readings by many authors. Lots of free parking if you buy.

They recommend books I actually like (Review of Bailey-Coy Books)

 Review of: Bailey-Coy Books

Located on Capitol Hill, Bailey Coy has always been a source of great new books to read. They have a nice display of new books w/ written recommendations from those on staff that have read them. Even better, they're not your typical mass market releases, they're books from local authors or newer authors that I wouldn't have heard about otherwise.

Some people think they're clever and ask for recommendations only to buy at Amazon where they think they're getting a better deal. Keep it up and Bailey Coy will go the way of the dinosaurs and you'll have nothing to read but Tom Clancy and Ann Coulter.

If you do end up paying $2 extra a book, get over it, b/c Bailey Coy also has a frequent buyers card, which ends up being equivalent to a free book after reading 10. And, if they don't have one in stock they'll order it for you.

This is one of my favorite bookstores...I can aways find exactly what I want and there are so many helpful staff ready to assist. It seems when I go to buy books I always find little unique gift items to tuck away for the holidays or to send to a friend. Members of their club now enjoy up to 40% off on many new hardback books...They have a wonderful store and the coupons can be printed from your computer for use in store too... If shopping in a retail store the environment seems to be comfortable and inviting....I am impressed with the knowledge of the staff as a whole..They are not afraid to find someone else to assist you if they feel you are needing information out of their range of expertise...I appreciate that immensely!!!! I have grandchildren and this store really encourages young readers...they hold story hours and have regular activities for children. All in all I find that using B & N satisfies my reading needs and also provides a learned staff to help me when I'm searching for an unusual book... I support independent stores when I can...but over all this is the place I head when craving a new read!!!

Epilogue Books is a friendly and well stocked used bookstore located on Market Avenue in Ballard. Without fail, the staff greets me at some point in my visit with warmth, they know their book selection and are readily available to answer questions, and they have a pretty large stock of books which ranges from romance to mysteries to literature and beyond.

This is truly the best children's bookstore in all of Seattle! They have an extraordinary selection of used and new books. We bought a bunch of used books at awesome prices. The ambiance is incredibly cool too. Our three year old had a blast just sitting there and reading books out loud to herself for over an hour. My wife and I had a wonderful time too as the owner makes you feel totally at home. Check it out. You will love it!!!!!!

If you want that old tome you never read last year or the year before, shop here. Limited selection but if a popular older title its cheap here. Nice musty smell of old books and lots clutter.

A few doors down from Toys in Babeland on Capitol Hill is an occult shop with a bit of a hard edge to it. It's for occultists and aspiring occultists with interests that might not be tolerated in some conservative communities. It's obvious that many of the people who frequent this place, especially the owner, know quite a bit about these practices, and also a decent place to network, if that is your path.
