Good selection. Poor service. (Review of Seattle Lighting Fixture Co)

We used this company for our new house ($>1m). Some folks act as if they think they are doing you a favor selling to you. One staff member at the Pioneer Square branch is downright rude! The selection is good, but not great for contemporary styles.

They told us some of the lights were in stock when they weren't, meaning that we're missing a few in our new house.

On a visit to the Bellevue store to get another light (why can't we learn and just stay away?), we could not get served because they are clearly understaffed. They expect you to write your name in a book and wait around to be paged!

Just who do the folks at this company think they are?

A Company Willing to go the Extra Mile (Review of Banwer Transfer)

 Review of: Banwer Transfer

“We got burned on our move a year earlier with another company so I did lots of research and took multiple bids. Their pricing was in line with the most competitive, but my real concern was integrity (no unexpected charges or surprises). They delivered on this count. Erin was great to work with...the most conservative of the group estimating at the high end (turned out to be accurate) rather than trying to win business by telling me only what I wanted to hear. This prevented mix ups later. They were on time, on budget, and a pleasure to work with...no disconnect between Erin's sales call and the movers who did the work. Erin and her move coordinator also took care of little details that we didn't have time for, something the next best candidate was unwilling to do. Moves are stressful, and often go wrong. This one was a pleasure and has set a great tone for the next phase in our lives.” June 11, 2008

Terrible (Review of April Lane's Home Cleaning)

 Author: Sarah V.
Review of: April Lane's Home Cleaning

I contacted this company to clean my 600sq foot home. I was quoted that for 5.5 hours with 2 people would cost 236.00. The cleaners claimed that they ran out of time and couldn't finish the dusting or the windows until I paid more. I don't understand why because my living quarters are not that big, my house was fairly clean, so there was no heavy scouring, and the work they did do was only halfway done. So, what were they doing? I called the company and complained and was told that April herself was coming to inspect the job that had been done. I told April that I was unhappy and that I felt a lot more should have been done for the time alloted and the sq. footage of my house. I also shared with her my displeasure in the work that was done. This would have been a good time for April to turn this bad situation into a positive one, but instead she continued to tell me that it was my fault the things I wanted to get clean didn't get done because I was not specific enough on my priority list. Isn't it their job to explain this beforehand so you get everything you expect out of that first cleaning? I was so furious by this statement that I decided then and there that I would never use this company again. After educating me on what I should have done, April then agreed to have her cleaners redo the work that they didn't do correctly. I felt this situation was dealt with poorly and I lost respect for April after our meeting. I would think that April would understand customer service and would want to make her clients happy. I wonder if she realizes that when a customer has a bad experience they are more likely to tell 10 of their friends. I work in an industry where I see and talk to a lot of people, and I will tell them about my experience. I did not like this company and I thought April made a poor choice in how she chose to deal with this situation, again the experience was terrible.

We purchased a Trash Compactor in Jan, 08 The owner was to get the parts in a week or two. And repair the compactor for us to pick up.
We finally went in Feb and picked up the compactor. He promised to have the parts in about a week? its June 30 and still no parts.
I order the parts on line and fixed it my self. We will never shop at the store again. Its bad service. And not really any. Most of the stuff seams to need repaired. And good luck getting them to do anything.

about 2 yrs ago we realized we had a carpenter ant problem. They came out sprayed the house and signed us up for a service contract. Since that time we have had the regional manager out twice to assure us that his technicians were doing there job. Growing suspicious we had the neighbor keep an eye on them while we were at work. Lo and behold they were only at the hose ten minutes at a time. needless to say this has been $3000 mistake. i would not recommend them to an enemy. I'M CALLING ORKIN.

Highly recommend this roofing company (Review of Raynproof Roofing)

 Review of: Raynproof Roofing

I've just had my home re-roofed by Raynproof Roofing and I'm very happy with the job they did. I've read the other reviews on this website for Raynproof and I think their competitors must be using this forum to slam them because I certainly don't agree with the negative reviews at all.

From my personal experience of just having my entire Seattle home reroofed by them, they are a great roofing contractor. Even my wife made a comment to me just last night that she was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly our roofing project went from start to finish. She had actually not been looking forward to dealing with this project but I convinced her we needed to get the roof done sooner than later this summer 'cuz of the stupid oil prices going through the roof. She agreed and actually was the one to meet up with the roofing specialist during the free estimate as I was at work. Out of all the bids we got, she was really impressed by Raynproof's professionalism and their willingness to explain things in terms she could understand. Her gut feeling was to go with Raynproof so that's what we did. We are very glad we chose Raynproof Roofing.

Waiting for 10 months for them to fix a refrigerator (Review of City Discount Appliance)

 Author: Chavi H.
Review of: City Discount Appliance

We purchased three appliances from City Discount Appliances only to have all of them break within a month of installation. Initially the people at the location were extremly unhelpful fixing the issue. After writing a poor review in Judy's book they finally correct the situation for the double oven and the range. However we have been waiting, calling, sending photos and generally trying to get them to fix the refrigerator which is entirely useless to us at this point.

Today they were suppose to send a tech to "look" at the issue. The person never showed up and when I called City Discount Appliances they seemed confused.

Purchase appliances from this place at your own risk. They will sell you items that will break and will not deal with the issue when you follow up with them.
